Why time is so important in Iceland

9 September 2019

I have just returned from my ever changing island after a fabulous work trip. I was exploring new places and meeting fantastic entrepreneurs in the areas that I recommend for my clients. It seems that there is never enough time while in Iceland. Many of my clients get the taste of Iceland on their first trip and then choose to go again and again.

Ever changing light and landscapes

The country is never the same. The light changes. The seasons change. The landscape is continuously changing. You meet new people and of course, old friends who have something new to tell you every time.

Time to enjoy and connect with nature

A feeling of fatigue is what my husband shared with my while traveling. The endlessness of the nature, its physical and visual power, and the sharply changing scenery requires one to be awake and aware the whole time. You get surprised every five minutes. As he put it: “One of these spots in Iceland would be the pride of any other nation, but you have thousands of these spots. It’s amazing and exhausting at the same time”.

That is why time is essential in Iceland. Give yourself time to explore, enjoy, stop, and breathe in the magic of this country.

The feeling of Iceland

Stopping and laying down in the moss and tasting wild blueberries, looking up to the sky, rain or shine, is an unforgettable experience. (It‘s more unforgettable, if slightly more uncomfortable and messy in the rain).

The tick the box tour-bus travelers, wanting to cruise around and over Iceland in the shortest time possible, are missing out on the feeling of Iceland. The essence, the smells (good and bad, depending on how much you like the sulfur of geysers 😉), the colors and the people.

I invite you  to explore Iceland, get to know the Icelanders, the culture and the craziness of this volcanic island in the North Atlantic. You honestly will never be the same. Contact Helga Stina for further information on personalized travel.
